Delhi to Dehradun
Spend the night in Dehradun to prepare for the trek.
Drive from Dehradun to Kotgaon.
The journey from Dehradun (and later Mussoorie) starts with a gradual ascent, passing by boarding schools and farms. Scenery transitions to pine-covered mountains, occasionally revealing distant snow-capped peaks. Along the route, local vendors offer fruits, rhododendron juice, and tea. To reduce waste, it's recommended to carry your mug. Passing through Naugaon, Mori, and Purola villages, the journey enters the Govind Pashu Vihar National Park. Har ki Dun and the Garhwal Himalayan peaks become visible. The merging of the Supin and Rupin rivers forms the Tons River, accompanying the path. Arriving at Kotgaon, a picturesque village with wooden houses and vibrant cafes, offers stunning sunset views of the Himalayas.
Drive from Kotgaon to Dhatmeer Trek from Dhatmeer to Gangaad
Trek distance: 6 km | Trek duration: 5 hours| Altitude gain: 6,455 ft to 7,667 ft.
Embark on your journey with a drive to Dhatmeer, a charming village around 20 km from Kotgaon. The route winds through picturesque mountain bends, offering glimpses of Mount Swargarohini and Mount Rangalana. Notable for their Koti-Banal architecture, the houses you pass are constructed using wood, stone, and slate, withstanding seismic forces and harsh weather. Sankri, the base camp of the Kedarkantha trek, is your last chance for trekking gear before entering remote villages. Hiring a jeep locally is advised due to landslide-prone routes. Expect a trek starting from Dhatmeer, traversing lush forests, crossing the Thamsa River, and arriving at the quaint village of Gangaad, known for its unique architectural marvels and traditional practices.
Gangaad to Kalkatiyadhar

The trail from Gangaad to Kalkatiyadhaar presents a rocky terrain, challenging with sizable rocks posing risks of ankle sprains. Navigating these sections demands cautious steps, utilizing rock edges for footholds. Soft landings during descents and alternating pressure on knees alleviate strain. Expect diverse flora, vibrant rhododendrons, and encounters with local hydroelectricity practices.
Kalkatiyadhar to Boslo
Trek distance: 9 km | Trek duration: 5-6 hours | Altitude gain/loss: 10,032 ft to 11,600 ft to 10,760 ft .
This day marks the pinnacle of the trek, encompassing a journey from Kalkatiyadhar to Har ki Dun via Boslo. The path begins with a gentle ascent, leading to a flat trail flanked by Bhojpatra trees. Traverse a magnificent waterfall, mindful of environmental impacts, and encounter serene landscapes en route. Boslo emerges as a cherished campsite, offering a breathtaking panorama of Hatta peaks and Har ki Dun, evoking a profound sense of humility and awe.
Boslo to Chillurgad
Trek distance: 5.5 km | Trek duration: 5 hours | Altitude gain: 10,760 ft to 9,930 ft.
The journey from Boslo to Devsu Thatch offers a refreshing change of pace, with a mostly level trail that feels more like a stroll. As you traverse through a beautiful forest, immerse yourself in the sensory experience—notice the changing scents, the melodic chirping of birds, and the coolness of the air. Marvel at the snow-capped peaks, including Swargarohini, shrouded in legend. The trail to Devsu Thach involves some gentle ascents and descents, culminating in a steep climb over a bridge across the Kyarakoti River. Take breaks, utilize trekking poles, and appreciate the vast meadows and stunning views at Devsu Thatch, perfect for a night trek!
Trek to Chillurgad via Dhatmeer
Trek distance: 14 km | Trek duration: 6-7 hours | Altitude gain/loss: 9,930 ft to 7,825 ft.
Embark on a journey through time as you follow the former trail back across the valley towards Gangaad. Memories of passed campsites and villages will resurface as you recognize familiar landmarks and idiosyncrasies. Along the way, you might encounter a peculiar individual claiming extraordinary tales of past political affiliations—indulge in conversation, absorb the unusual encounter, and continue on. Rest and refuel at a nearby dhaba, then proceed towards Gangaad coming into view. Departing from Gangaad, ascend through a secluded forest section towards Dhatmeer, your accommodation for the night.
Back to Dehradun from Kotgoan
Descend 3 km to Dhatmeer, then proceed to the road head. From there, catch a Jeep to Kotgaon. Settle any rentals or purchases before driving back to Dehradun. Reflect on your journey as a team during the Jeep ride to Kotgaon, expressing gratitude for the shared experiences. Cherish the memories created together.
